Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Notice/Drinking Water Warning
Issued by: Fairbanks Middle/High School Date: December 8, 2025
This notice is being issued as a precaution to ensure the health and safety of our water consumers.
Boil Water Before Using
Due to system depressurization at the middle and high school, Fairbanks Local School District is
issuing a precautionary boil order. During a required well disinfection, a pipe from the pitless
adapter broke off, causing a blockage inside the well casing. The broken pipe has reduced the
amount of water that is coming into the building from the well and is unable to keep up with
demand. As a result, the water system has not maintained adequate pressure to ensure water safety
due to the depressurization of the system, and there is a potential risk of contamination.
Until further notice, do not use tap water without boiling it first.
What This Means for You
All water intended for the following uses must be brought to a rolling boil for at least 3 minutes:
• Drinking
• Brushing teeth
• Preparing food and beverages
• Making ice
• Washing dishes (especially if air-drying)
• Cleaning surfaces that come into contact with food
Do not use unboiled tap water for any of the activities above. Bottled water may be used as an
alternative.
🛠What We Are Doing to Resolve the Issue
Our team is actively:
• Making necessary repairs to the well to fully repressurize the system.
• Inspecting the well casing and pump
• Flushing and disinfecting affected sections of the water system
• Conducting water quality tests to confirm the safety of the supplied water
We will lift this boil order as soon as water quality testing shows the system meets all required
health standards. Updates will be provided by our team directly to consumers. -
