This page will provide the information you need for registering a new student, applying for open enrollment, registering your kindergartner, or our preschool program. If you have questions, or if you are another district with questions regarding EMIS, please email the Administrative Office or call 937-349-9000 ext. 1200.

 

Notice Regarding Residency and Enrollment

Accurate student residency information is required for enrollment in our school district. Families are reminded that providing false, misleading, or incomplete residency information is a serious matter.

Under the Ohio Revised Code, knowingly enrolling a student using a false address, falsified documents, or any other misrepresentation may constitute fraud and can result in:

  • Withdrawal of the student from the district

  • Liability for tuition reimbursement for the period of ineligible attendance

  • Possible civil or criminal penalties for those who knowingly provide false information

Our district may request additional documentation to verify residency and may investigate situations in which residency is questioned.

We appreciate the cooperation of all families in helping us maintain compliance with state law and ensuring that district resources are used appropriately for eligible students.

  • Welcome to the Fairbanks Local School District! If you live within the Fairbanks Local School District boundaries, please see below for registration instructions. If you live outside of our district, please see the information on open enrollment.

    If you have a preschool student, please see instructions at the bottom of this page.

    To enroll your child in the district:

    1. Pre-register your student(s) using the Fairbanks Pre-Registration form.

    2. Contact the Central Office Secretary to schedule an appointment for enrollment. 

    3. You may email copies of your student’s birth certificate, immunization records, proof of residence*, and if applicable, custody paperwork to the Administrative Office for review prior to your scheduled enrollment appointment. Please bring your driver’s license / ID to your enrollment appointment.

    4. Once the documents are verified, our office will work with you to set up your PowerSchool account and complete the online enrollment forms for your student(s).

    5. Once all forms have been completed, your child will be eligible to start school. You will receive confirmation that your student is ready to start school in our district from the district or building office.

    *Accepted documents for Proof of Residence are: Gas/Propane, Water, or Electric bills in the parent/guardians name. It must be the full bill with payment coupon attached. Lease agreements are accepted when all utilities are included in the written lease agreement. Trash, cable or mortgage bills are not accepted. If you do not have a bill in your name, please contact the Administrative Offices.

    Items of note:

    • If there is a special situation and you do not have all documents, please email the Administrative Office or call 937-349-9000 ext.1200.

    • If you have an existing PowerSchool account, you will add your new student to your account so that you can see all students under one account.

    • The access ID and password for the student is sent to the email address used for pre-registration. If there are other guardians who need access to the student's PowerSchool information, you would use the same access ID and password provided in the email to set up the student with that guardian's PowerSchool account.

    • If you are applying for Open Enrollment, DO NOT complete the link above. Please email the Administrative Office or call 937-349-9000 ext.1200. Open Enrollment applications are available through the Administrative office from the 2nd Tuesday of April through the 1st Friday in May.

  • Registration for Kindergarten Round-Up is just around the corner!

    Students must be 5 years of age by August 1, 2026 to enter kindergarten in the Fairbanks Local School District for the 2026-2027 school year. Planning for the upcoming school year starts early!! In January, we will have a link posted to register for Kindergarten Round-Up. We request that you RSVP as early as possible to help with planning. Kindergarten Round-Up is by appointment only and is schedule in May.

    Round-Up is a fun day for our incoming Panthers. While students meet with Fairbanks teachers and staff for an assessment, parents will begin the enrollment process and learn more about our school. 

    What should you bring to your Round-Up appointment?

    • Birth Certificate
    • Immunization Records
    • Proof of Residence*
    • All custody and court documentation (if applicable)

  • The Open Enrollment window for the 2025-2026 school year is now closed. To apply for open enrollment in the upcoming school year, you must submit the Fairbanks Open Enrollment Application and additional requirements for each student during the open enrollment window. The Open Enrollment period each year is from the 2nd Tuesday in April through the 1st Friday in May. As a reminder, you must apply for open enrollment each year you wish for your child(ren) to attend. If you have questions, please email the Administrative Office or call 937-349-9000 ext.1200.

    Once open enrollment is decided, decision letters are mailed out by July 30. If you have questions or would like to confirm receipt of your open enrollment application, please email the Administrative Office or call 937-349-9000 ext.1200.

  • Fairbanks offers a special needs preschool with peer role models.
